Zendaya Brings Artist Simone Yvette Leigh's Work To Life For Garage Magazine!

Today Garage Magazine unveiled Issue #17 of their magazine, and gracing the cover page was Zendaya. The aesthetic behind the editorial was bringing to life the work of sculpture artist Simone Yvette Leigh, whose work captures the subject of the pure embodiment of the Black Woman, and Black Womanhood. When the concept of bringing her artwork visions to life, Garage Magazine thought that it would be an excellent idea to pair Simone with Zendaya, considering her work as an actress, and Simone Yvette Leigh was honored to have the Muse be Zendaya. Zendaya's look for the cover was inspired by Simone Yvette Leigh's "Brick House" Sculpture from her ongoing 2016 "Anatomy Of Architecture" Series, which features a Black Woman in traditional African Braids, and conflated torso shaped like a Clay House. The Clayhouse piece that Zendaya wears on the cover is from her 2018 "Cupboard VIII" series. Another fun fact about this cover is that the art sculpture that inspired the cover look, the "Brick House", is currently on display in New York City in the Plinth at the Highline, it's installation is set to end in September of 2019, so if you are in New York, go and see it while you can.

The editorial image, styled by Garage Magazine Fashion Director Gabriela Karefa-Johnson and Zendaya's longtime wardrobe stylist LAW Roach, and edited by Brian Phillips, they accessorized the look with the Tiffany's "True T Bracelet" and used it as a choker.

In the second look, Zendaya wears a tall Clay House art installment from Simone Yvette Leigh's 2018 "Cupboard VIII" series, paired with a look from the Louis Vuitton Resort 2020 RTW Collection, and accessorized with multiple necklaces from Tiffany's.
