In Honor Of The MET Gala, Here Is A Look Back At Zendaya In Dolce & Gabbana!

In honor of what should have been the first Monday in May at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art in New York City, here is a look back at Zendaya's third MET Gala appearance back in 2017. The MET Gala theme Exhibition for the year was "Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: The Art Of The In-Between" which honored the work of Comme des Garçons and designer Rei Kawakubo her aesthetic of the non-conventional and her ability to deconstruct fashion. For the event, Zendaya wore Italian Fashion Brand Dolce & Gabbana.

Zendaya picking Dolce & Gabbana for her fit made perfect sense considering that she was one of the many young faces who starred in their Spring/Summer 2017 "DG Millenials" ad campaign.

This particular MET Gala would mark the only MET Gala to date where Zendaya wore an actual runway piece instead of a bespoke custom design by a designer, and not only did she and LAW Roach pick just any dress they dipped into the archives wearing the Double Organza Baroque Gown In Pappagalli Carousel Print. The tropical ballgown with a parrot motif was apart of Dolce & Gabbana's Midsummer Night's Dream themed Alta Moda Fall 2015 Couture collection. This was also the first MET Gala where Zendaya's gown detracted from the theme.

For jewelry, Zendaya wore yellow diamonds all courtesy of Forevermark. She wore the Radiant Bright Cut Yellow and White Diamond Earrings(12.99 ct), and the Radiant Cut Exceptional Fancy Intense Yellow Diamond Ring(13.02 ct).

While the dress might have detracted from the Exhibition theme, the naturally textured afro hair and the makeup done by Sheika Daley and Dante Blandshaw certainly were on the theme as homage to Rei Kawakubo's signature look. This look was a real winner for the MET Gala 2017.
